What a long, strange trip it's been!
I began practicing Pilates while living in my native Seattle more than 10 years ago. After being relocated to New England I discovered the STOTT Pilates method and have been a devoted practitioner for the past six years. I believe that the STOTT method is the most comprehensive, accessible, effective and safe method available. Becoming an instructor was a natural extension of my own journey.
[As an aside, my professional background is heavily weighted toward the fashion industry, although my husband and I have owned a medical staffing business for the past four years.]
In addition to working privately with a STOTT certified trainer, I have trained in the STOTT method through Northeast Pilates for mat and reformer. My education continues as I layer in the cadillac, chair and barrels and proceed to injuries and special populations. I really enjoy sharing my knowledge, old and new, with my clients.
As a STOTT trained instructor, it's my goal to help you reach your own, unique fitness and wellness goals. Pilates is a wonderful way to add to and improve your fitness routine. By combining mind-body awareness with core training, Pilates is ideally suited for all ages, shapes, sizes and abilities. I want to help you become the best you that you can be!
On a personal note, I live in Epping, NH and Yarmouth, ME with my wonderful husband and totally exhausting English Springer Spaniel. I love to be outside when the weather is warm and fill my spare time with bike rides, hiking, lots of yard work and long walks. I also Jazzercise regularly (great cardio!) and enjoy cooking and learning about food and nutrition.
Breathing, the first principle of Pilates, is one of the best things you can practice throughout your day every day. Breathing not only oxygenates your blood and replenishes cells throughout your body, it also increases blood flow to the brain, which helps with focus and has a revitalizing effect. By breathing deep in through your nose and out through pursed lips, you will also alleviate tension in the head, neck and shoulders. So, go ahead and take a deep breath!
